the farming family

* a very personal blog post *

I was in two minds over posting this but I felt like I had to put it 'out' there somewhere.

I am from a farming family and have roots in Shropshire, in fact roots so deep we are converting a barn on the farm, in village that I grew up in and 4 generations of my family lived and farmed.

The buildings we are converting were a milking parlour and lofts used for grains and other things.

Our garden will be what my great grandparents and great uncle used for their vegetable plot, I may even have a try at growing carrots or something when we are in!

In 2008 we lost my great uncle suddenly, he lived in the big old farmhouse.  In this tragedy we were faced with the big empty house to deal with and as I'd never really seen inside it I dealt with this by hiding behind the camera.

A couple of weeks ago I was reminded of these photographs so I decided to revisit them and do something with them.

I guess in a way this is a little snippet of my family and the building that was their home and life for so many years.

The buildings were used as part of the farm up until our building work started.

When my great uncle passed away the house was very much a time capsule, untouched since the late 50's

The house has now been lovingly restored and is home to a lovely family.
