Well Shropshire, thats almost the same thing. https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2018/5/amy-and-justin-in-a-winter-wonderland-well-shropshire-thats-almost-the-same-thing It was mid December in a beautiful sleepy Shropshire Village, Amy and Justin had traveled all the way from Sydney to get married at the church local to Justin's family.  There was snow piled on the ground and it was pretty ruddy fresh outside.

I absolutely take my figurative hat off to them for planning a wedding from the other side of the world, that cannot have been easy, it was however perfect.

What a wonderful day guys, thank you a million for having me there and when you visit again lets have a brew x

Janet & Paul intimate Wedding https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2018/1/janet-paul-intimate-wedding Weddings like this don't come very often and when they do I am so happy to be involved.

The first time I met Janet and Paul, Janet was Mother of the Bride at the utterly beautiful wedding of Bryony and Dan (seriously you two, can you do it again it was lush!)

So when Janet asked me if I could shoot their big day I was delighted.

Much like Bryony and Dan's day they started at the family home with a super chilled atmosphere with both Janet and Paul getting ready alongside family and friends.

They said their vows at The Dragon Hotel, Montgomery (it was going to be elsewhere but the was an incident involving Vikings...) where they stayed for drinks, food and their formal pictures then on to the brilliant Bay Tree in Welshpool.

A-Z of 2017 https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2017/12/a-z-of-2017 Obligatory end of year round up alert!!!!

2017 has has wizzed by and it has been bloody amazing.

I have had the most amazing couples, whose weddings have been an absolute pleasure to shoot.

So many lovely families with crazy kids (some in horrible weather too!)

I've had the pleasure of second shooting with some awesome photographers.

I had some awesome shoots that come out of the blue and are random and I love them for that!

And to top it off, with the help of some awesome families booking their sessions, we have raised £500 split between Dementia UK and Help Refugees.

Now to the end of year picture round up, I thought I'd try an A-Z.

If you've ever been subjected to the A-Z game you'll forgive my lame attempts at the trickier letters!!

2017 you have been awesome.

2018 lets do this !!

So much laughing your face hurts and you've probably forgotten what was so funny x

M - Make up... and hair

Getting ready with your best people around you and being pampered, pretty awesome.

N - No rules

Llandudno Adventure https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2017/11/llandudno-adventure After a seriously busy wedding season me and fellow Photographer Becky Ryan decided we needed a relaxing break.  Instead of planning an exotic holiday in a tropical location we opted for our childhood holiday destination - Llandudno.

For me it has lovely family memories and we stayed in a lovely Hotel on the seafront (The Hydro Hotel)

We played bingo, gambled on 2p machines, had fish and chips and even got a glimpse at Elfyn Evans just after securing victory at Wales Rally GB !!

One grey afternoon we had a little creative writing session.  Amongst other bits I wrote a poem about a seagull that kept visiting our hotel room window, I called him Trevor, I've included this by his pictures.  *Please be aware this contains bad words, sorry*

Here are a few pictures including some of my beautiful friend Becky.

That Bastard Seagull Trevor is a greedy little shit

He swoops and sneaks upon your food and buggers off with it

He'll squark at all the other birds to keep them off his prey

From the child with an ice cream to a discarded take away

Yes Trevor is a bad one to everyone near and far

If he gets bored he flies around just to shit on a car

Maybe he's not a bastard, perhaps he's misunderstood

If he could speak he might say thank you if he could.

Marzena & Philip's Fairlawns Wedding https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2017/10/marzena-philips-fairlawns-wedding Marzena and Philip chose Fairlawns Hotel in Aldridge, West Midlands for their big day.

The hotel is really amazing with gorgeous outdoor space, super amazing friendly staff and the food was lush!

Marzena and Philip had such a beautiful day with family and friends.

We felt so welcome and got amazing joyful vibes from everyone, it was a pleasure to shoot.  I particularly enjoyed Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's Stickman as a reading during your ceremony, unique and brilliant!

Thank you again for having us and congratulations again ! x

Emily and David's Perfect Tiny Goldstone Hall Wedding https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2017/10/emily-and-davids-perfect-tiny-goldstone-hall-wedding Emily and David got married at a church near their home then onto Goldstone Hall Shropshire for the rest of the day with close family.  They had home grown flowers, home made wedding cake and the church lights going off when Emily was half way down the aisle was definitely a first for us!  Even with minimal fuss they had maximum style.

We are absolutely honoured to have been part of your little big day, it was beautiful x

Katie and Russel's Morrells Wood Farm Wedding https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2017/10/katie-and-russels-morrells-wood-farm-wedding Katie and Russel's wedding was planned to perfection at Leighton Church and Morrells Wood Farm

Morrells Wood Farm (part of the Wroxeter Hotel) is a real working farm with Sheds, Cows and a resident Border Collie

In the morning the heavens opened but this did not stop the smiles.  The rain quickly cleared and as you can see, the day was simply beautiful.

Julie and Matt's Northop Hall Country House Hotel Wedding with Star Cars! https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2017/10/julie-and-matts-northop-hall-wedding-with-star-cars Matt had found out about me from my days shooting Road Rallying and Rallying.  So this was one of those occasions where all the initial contact was made by the Groom as he was involved in the sport too.

As soon as I met Julie and Matt together I knew their day was going to be amazing and I was absolutely right.

Surrounded by their close family and friends at Northop Hall Country House Hotel the day was so happy and personal.  Matt had made the cake, the car was a family classic and Matt's daughter sang for them after the first dance, it was so lovely.

Sunny Relaxed Chester Wedding - Debbie & Adam https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2017/10/sunny-relaxed-chester-wedding---debbie-adam I had the pleasure of shooting Debbie and Adam's gorgeous chilled out wedding in Chester.

Debbie has kindly done a write up for the blog.

So all I have to do is thank Debbie for this and also thank Birgitta from Birgitta Zoutman Wedding and Lifestyle Photography for being an outstanding second shooter

Adam wanted a nice three-piece suit for the day that he could keep. He settled on this one from DKNY and accessorised with Loake brogues and Hugo Boss tie and pocket square and a Paul Smith tie clip. I commissioned some eternity shaped cufflinks for Adam from the same silver as my bracelet and gave them to him before the ceremony to wear.

The groomsmen were in suits from Primark which we were really pleased with. The three-piece suit plus ties ended up being cheaper to buy than what we’d been quoted for hire! All the boys had varying colourful socks from Richard James which were also part of their gift from us.

Groom's Suit - DKNY  Groom's Shoes - Loake

  Groomsmen's Suits - Primark

Gown - Eliza Jayne Howell, Agape Bridal Boutique  Shoes - Rachel Simpson

I had a vision for my dress, but finding it proved difficult! I knew I wanted something that looked quite vintage and glamorous, but with no ‘sparkles’. I’m not into sequins and diamonds (my engagement ring is a black diamond custom made on Etsy as Adam felt I deserved a diamond but knew the ‘bling’ wouldn’t suit me!). When I tried on the Clarissa dress by Eliza Jayne Howell it was perfect- it was fully beaded so gave plenty of wow factor and caught the light beautifully, but as the beads were all white it didn’t technically have any ‘sparkle’.

I found my dress at Agape Bridal Boutique in Altrincham who also supplied my veil. As I wasn’t intentionally going for the 1920’s theme I wanted to tone down the vintage style of my dress and so decided on a plain single layer veil. I wore my usual All Saints jacket for when it got chilly and this kept the look (as well as me) relaxed. It was comforting to have something familiar that I was comfortable in on the day.

My shoes were Rachel Simpson and the bracelet was a piece I commissioned on Etsy by Nicole at Hummingbird Hawkmoth. This served as my ‘something old and something new’ as it was made from recycled silver. My ‘something borrowed something blue’ was my Mum’s garter from her wedding day!

Chester Taxis

I wanted my bridesmaids to be in two-piece outfits so started looking around in the sales early on and pieced them together over time to help the budget. In the end, they wore skirts from Coast which I found in the outlet store and teamed these with a plain silk vest top. I asked them all to bring a leather jacket on the day for when it got chilly.

My flowers were provided by a friend of the groom’s Mother who is a retired florist. I originally planned to have a bouquet made from succulents only but they are heavy so in the end I incorporated them into a more flowy arrangement of foliage including eucalyptus and gypsophila. The men’s buttonholes featured some little succulents and the girls had gypsophila in their hair.

Bridesmaid Dresses - Coast

We wanted a city centre wedding, without any need for travelling between venues. The only transport arranged for the day was a black cab which was decorated for the day. This allowed easy access through the barriers into Chester’s old town. There were several companies who offered ‘wedding taxis’ at a wedding-worthy price, but in the end we contacted a local taxi company who was happy to arrange this for us. We wanted to be able to regularly walk past the locations and revisit memories as well as having our adopted home of Chester serve as a backdrop to our photographs. We were married at Chester Town Hall which has a gorgeous gothic style interior. It provided the backdrop that we wanted whilst being non-religious. It gave us the freedom to be ourselves and get married to the tune of Rilo Kiley and The Stereophonics!

The only drawback to the city centre location was that confetti was not allowed outside, but our improvisation of ‘bubble confetti’ actually worked wonders and has become one of our favourite photos! I taped a little bottle of bubbles to each order of service for guests to have ready.

Venue - 1539, Chester Racecourse

After the ceremony we walked through town to our reception venue of Bar 1539 on the racecourse. Our meal was a grazing board including Thai fish kebabs, hummus, chicken skewers and pork belly which went down really well. We wanted a casual meal which would allow Adam and I to mingle with our guests and returning to our food periodically rather than having set courses. Our cake was a cheese tower which we found at a very good price at Costco, and this also served as part of the snacks for evening guests along with toasties. The bride’s Mother made Bara Brith and the Groom’s Mother made chutneys to accompany the cheese. Our favours were locally made fudge which we bagged and decorated with stickers I had printed on Vistaprint.

Evening entertainment was provided by our friends who volunteered to DJ and a two piece band who played our favourite indie songs.

We didn’t have a particular colour scheme, but tried to keep things fairly neutral so that new ideas/outfits I found could be easily worked into the day (like the bridesmaids’ skirts for example). I never imagined I’d have pink as art of the wedding party outfits but they were a great price and the right size and in the end it worked really well against the foliage of the bouquets. We got engaged at Cloudy Bay vineyard in New Zealand during a tandem bike tour, so we featured tandem bikes on our invitations and cake topper and named each table after a vineyard we visited. The top table was obviously Cloudy Bay!

I made all the decorations myself, which was great fun if somewhat stressful at times! I took inspiration from Etsy and items I’d seen on stationary websites but produced them myself to save money. The printed items such as the Photobooth banner, orders of service, guest message cards and ‘I spy’ cards were made on photoshop and printed on Vistaprint. The welcome easel was from Ikea’s children range which I sanded and stained before writing on it with chalk pen.

The table decorations were kept simple, using craft beer bottles from Wales, Manchester or New Zealand and filling them with sprigs of foliage to match the bouquets. This meant little waste at the end of the wedding as they could be put straight in the bottle bank. I found the little fairy lights in Primark and the place settings were made from corks to match the vineyard theme.

Each guest had an instax photo taken for them to sign and post in a jar which we put into an album/guestbook after the wedding.

Mad as a Hatter at Shooters Hill Hall https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2017/9/mad-as-a-hatter-at-shooters-hill-hall Kate and Alan are seriously the most laid back couple I've had, down to earth and super chilled.

They planned their fabulous wedding with great help and creative eye from Kate's Mum Owena.

There were so many special quirky little touches to the decor. It was definitely a feast for the eyes.

However with all the planning in the world you cannot control what the skies have to throw at you and on the day, boy did the sky throw a lot at us!

Even with heavy torrential showers fun and games were had.

regal regal regal https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2017/3/regal-regal-regal I do love a little challenge every now and then so when Rhys asked me to do some headshots I knew he didn't mean the normal cheesey 'check me out in my suit, I work in a fancy office' kinda headshot.

Rhys apprenticing at K2 in Shrewsbury  I'm pretty sure his style speaks for itself.

He wanted the images to reflect a vintage vibe with a hint of regal, perhaps a smidge of regalness and in a slight regal fashion.

Here are some pictures...

'Jonnie Hardy, Sam’s best man (and lead singer), organised the music which was a mash up of members from the group he usually plays with, Alex Graham and the Conchords; a four piece boogie-woogie rock and roll band, and other musicians which he has performed with in the past.' 07917855609

And finally Jess's word on us.

'Blue Fox!!! – Lovely couple who were brilliant on the day and gave us an amazing engagement shoot (which featured around the wedding cake). Took loads of amazing photos and even ran a couple of errands for us (because we were a bit unorganised!).  Have recommended to everyone!!!'

Shrewsbury Spring Vintage Wedding Fayre https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2017/2/shrewsbury-spring-vintage-wedding-fayre Today we were at The Vintage Wedding fayre at The Morris Hall Shrewsbury.

As far as local gets in relation to where we live this is our local fayre and we adore it.

The Morris hall is a lovely little hidden gem with history and charm seeping out.

I managed to get a few pictures before the doors opened (and I was playing with my new camera, yay!)

Behind the scenes - Di Shackson Flowers https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2016/10/behind-the-scenes---di-shackson-flowers First of all, can I explain my reasoning for a 'behind the scenes thing’...

Quite often folks from the wedding industry get together and do styled shoots to showcase each others talents.  I have done one and it was great fun. They can be amazing, but styled shoots are artificial situations - it's pretty much all posed.

Our photography style is more natural and observational rather than directed.

So, here is my first behind the scenes shoot.

I will be spending some time with wedding industry folks and capture what they do, how they do it and who the people are behind the business.

I first met Di Shackson at a wedding fayre when we were both relatively new in our businesses. We have since done many fayres and weddings alongside each other. I simply adore her.

Her natural talent is amazing. She has an enviable artistic eye and instantly puts you at ease - when you're planning a wedding this quality is definitely incredibly handy!

I met up with Di at her home, which is Di Shackson Flowers HQ.  She was preparing for a wedding for the following day.

We were later joined by her four gorgeous little helpers..

You can find her website here Di Shackson Flowers

Her Facebook here Di Shackson Flowers Facebook and her Instagram here Di Shackson Instagram

Thanks for reading,

Beautiful Shropshire Farm Wedding https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2016/8/rachel-and-richards-beautiful-shropshire-farm-wedding On meeting Rachel and Richard at their home for a chat about their big day, we talked about their plans and when they mentioned the rustic farm vibe and that they were doing home brew for the tables and making jams and chutneys for the favours, I was super excited!

The big day arrived, I met up with Rachel at her family home (which was also the reception venue, so lovely)  Rachel was so chilled with her bridesmaids with the wonderful Marta in control of Hair and Make up.  (Hair by Marta)

With the reception being held in the field next to the house the the wedding party could keep an eye on the last minute arrivals and deliveries, like the amazing Di Shackson. Di is simply awesome I love everything she does! (Di Shackson Flowers)

Richard was getting ready nearby surrounded by groomsmen and family. Their suits were from Moss Bro

Cake smash with Cara https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2016/4/cake-smash-with-cara So since I stopped doing studio stuff I haven't done any cake smash sessions.

Ok, some say they are really American but I think the Americans got this right, how can a little person playing with their food in the cutest way be a bad thing?! (not to mention a valuable set of pictures to bring out at their 18th Birthday!)

Charlotte asked me to do the shoot for Cara's first birthday, we neatly avoided the issue of not having a studio by utilising the space in her Grandparents conservatory!

How ruddy gorgeous is she and the added bonus of not having powerful studio lights nearby is that we have the adorable cleanup pictures too.

Here are a few from the session, isn't she perfect x

Waddle round the woods https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2016/2/waddleroundthewoods *Personal Post*

This time of year is typically quiet for me but this year has been a bit of an odd one.

For starters we moved into our new home just before Christmas and as we'd built it, it was still a bit of a building site (kinda still is...)

We haven't had the internet either (shakes first at BT) but we do now so I guess all is forgiven.

I've been tying all my end of tax year and admin stuff up too (yawn)

And on top of this we're awaiting the arrival of baby number two...

We went for a little waddle around with (not so much of a baby anymore) Baby number one Jensen and his mate Mollie.

*Next post should be baby pictures!*

Hidden off the A53 it's a fabulous venue that serves as a glamorous blank canvas to suit so many different styles, and with the added bonus of the huge amount of glass out onto unspoilt views.

Workshopping with Steve Gerrard https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2015/6/workshopping-with-steve-gerrard

Photography workshops seem to be popping up everywhere now so choosing one could be pretty difficult, or so you'd think.

The first workshop I did was welcome home, by the bloody lovely Emma Case and Pete Smyth.  I did this because I have such admiration for their work, style approach, everything.   This was awesome, there were tears, revelations and I went away with my mojo back (majorly!)

So when spotted Steve Gerrard was holding a workshop there was no way I would miss it!  He is a bit of a super star in music and wedding photography, I just adore his work.

As with welcome home it's pretty weird meeting people you've followed online and admire, I feel a bit like a super fan!

Lots of inspiration, insights and a wander around Digbeth with an awesome couple (Al and Kerrie, you rocked!)

Here are a few pictures from the day...

The woods at night and some very strange beautiful friends https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2015/6/the-woods-at-night-and-some-very-strange-beautiful-friends

Every now and then I get the urge to do something out of my comfort zone, something I wouldn't normally do.  I have no reason for this, just part of my character I guess.

Being a Photographer I tend to work in very antisocial patterns so my friends are very much used to me not making many nights out and sometimes cancelling on them for work, it's just the nature of the beast.

Basically what I'm saying is that they are awesome to put up with me and understand (love you guys!)

During a call to one of these ladies amongst many random curse words we formed a plot to do a mystical woodland shoot, fairies or woodland spirits or something to that effect!

So here it is, not what I do everyday but it was bloody good fun.

(Starting off with an obscene amount of editing...)

the farming family https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2015/6/the-farming-family * a very personal blog post *

I was in two minds over posting this but I felt like I had to put it 'out' there somewhere.

I am from a farming family and have roots in Shropshire, in fact roots so deep we are converting a barn on the farm, in village that I grew up in and 4 generations of my family lived and farmed.

The buildings we are converting were a milking parlour and lofts used for grains and other things.

Our garden will be what my great grandparents and great uncle used for their vegetable plot, I may even have a try at growing carrots or something when we are in!

In 2008 we lost my great uncle suddenly, he lived in the big old farmhouse.  In this tragedy we were faced with the big empty house to deal with and as I'd never really seen inside it I dealt with this by hiding behind the camera.

A couple of weeks ago I was reminded of these photographs so I decided to revisit them and do something with them.

I guess in a way this is a little snippet of my family and the building that was their home and life for so many years.

The buildings were used as part of the farm up until our building work started.

When my great uncle passed away the house was very much a time capsule, untouched since the late 50's

The house has now been lovingly restored and is home to a lovely family.

a very welcome break https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2015/5/a-very-welcome-break Last year I was massively lucky enough to attend Welcome Home a workshop run by the unbelievably awesome Emma Case and Pete Smyth.

This workshop was a major game changer for me, it took me back to my first spark of passion for photography and I met with a bunch of amazing likeminded people (the Homies!)

At the end of April us homies went to Welcome Break (no not the motorway services) a retreat at Talton Lodge, Warwickshire.

We played, relaxed, partied, took pictures and had a break from everything.

This probably doesn't sound like much, but as a Photographer everything is an emotional roller coaster of the highs of shooting and the lows of hours of lonely editing and everything in-between and beyond.  Being with other Photographers who are totally on the same wavelength is like being an alien and going for a ride on the mothership, totally awesome.

p.s here are some pictures.

Love affair with film https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2015/3/love-affair-with-film If you visit my page you'll see I don't blog very often, in fact hardly ever.

The thing is I get to the keyboard and don't know what to say.  I felt however I would pop up a big post about my personal love affair with film.

Photography is such a wonderful thing and quite literally everyone can take part (even my 3 year old enjoys using my less precious cameras)  That is the beauty of digital, so forgiving and disposable.

(Above Photograph By J Dams - Age 3 years)

I have a bit of an obsession for vintage and old fashioned things (hasn't everyone these days!)  I love the effort and craftsmanship and design that went into vintage garments, and classic vehicles.

'Vintage' cameras are the same (although I can't say my fluorescent pink plastic supersnaps camera was)

I have countless Polaroids, 70's Olympus, Zenits and various other I'm not certain even work, They are all works of art, beautiful to look at and inspiring to operate.

In the new year I decided to dust them off and get playing again, in particular the Olympus 35 Trip and the OMG (I adore that it's called OMG!)

I've raided that hidden shelf in Boots and got a good supply of Ilford Film and am ready to rock.

I even managed to get my hands on a darkroom setup from one of those pages on Facebook, a very generous chap was giving it away as he hadn't used it for a while.  So not only do I have a newfound obsession with 35mm film, I am armed with the kit to play at being a chemist/wizard!

Basically the whole point is that it is back to basics, hands on, proper old school photography.

I won't be shooting any weddings with this stuff but I'll be having a wonderful time messing about with solutions and light, just like the olden days...

The Vintage Wedding Fayre https://www.bluefoxphoto.co.uk/blog/2014/10/the-vintage-wedding-fayre We've done a few wedding fayres before and it's all felt a bit soulless.  A group of random suppliers grouped in a room usually with a DJ playing first dance songs incredibly loudly, it never felt good.  Don't get me wrong there are some cracking events out there but there also an awful lot of bad ones.

Some of my weddingy friends got into a new fayre - The Vintage Wedding Fayre and this was different, Hurray !!  It had heart, it was small, perfectly formed and it felt friendly and not salesy.  I got on the waiting list.

I got a message from lovely Hayley the genius behind the Fayre that a space had become available and I jumped!

Not only was it the busiest Fayre we had done, everyone was friendly, all the suppliers were ruddy amazing and the venue (oh the venue!)

I didn't get much of a chance to take any pictures but I set up my trusty GoPro to do a little time lapse...

On Tuesday I went along to Welcome Home, the workshop run by the super duper freaking amazing Photographer Emma Case & hubby Pete www.emmacasephotography.com

I have always admired her work and when the workshop info popped up on Facebook I just knew I had to go.  Having never been on a proper workshop before I wasn't sure what to expect but here it is...

I met amazing genius crazy people who do what I do.

Emma shared her experience, thoughts, questions and soul.

We met an awesome couple for a shoot.

I drank tea, lots of tea (yay!)

Best of all I've come away with so much inspiration and such great feeling for which there are no words!
